The migration to the mainland US in 1946 – 1970 was a bit of mixed feeling towards the move overall. Puerto Ricans felt they were seeking break through from all the bad experiences they faced while living in poverty and violence by migrating not realizing how it would be on the next journey. Some felt the change was all good news not thinking on how they would adapt to the new environment and the differences they always knew would be so affecting on them. As the Americans did not make the move and changes any better with the way they treated immigrants from other countries, they also arrested them if they were undocumented. They separated families and children in devastating ways carelessly. Instead of coming to a land of freedom it was imprisonment to them being in refuges. They did nothing wrong and felt punished. Long term migrating did have some good outcomes even if sacrifice was needed for them to happen. Blessings in disguise.
