A BIBLICAL WORLDVIEW AND CHRISTIAN PHILOSOPHY OF EDUCATION 2 Introduction Education plays an important role in shaping the beliefs, values, and character of people and or society at hand. To provide a foundation for education, it is important to understand the principles of a biblical worldview and a Christian philosophy of education. This paper aims to deliver a comprehensive understanding of these concepts and explore their implications for educational practice. Biblical Worldview A biblical worldview is a lens through which people perceive and interpret the world based on the teachings of Judeo-Christian scriptures, primarily the Bible. It surrounds its close beliefs around God, humanity, creation, morality, and the purpose of life. Central to a biblical worldview is the belief that God is the ultimate creator and sustainer of the universe (Genesis 1:1). Humans are seen as unique creations made in the image of God (Genesis 1:26-27), This can be seen as underlining the worth and dignity. In addition, a biblical worldview emphasizes the fallen nature of humanity due to sin (Romans 3:23) and the need for redemption through faith in Jesus Christ (John 3:16). It underscores the importance of moral absolutes as revealed in the Ten Commandments (Exodus 20:1-17) and the teachings of Jesus (Matthew 22:37-40). Additionally, the biblical worldview emphasizes the call to love one's neighbor (Matthew 22:39) and to seek justice (Micah 6:8). Christian Philosophy of Education A Christian philosophy of education is founded upon the foundation of a biblical worldview. It focuses on metaphysical and axiological problems that may be concerning for

Metaphysical questions revolve around the purpose and meaning of education, while axiological revolves around different values and ethics. Metaphysically, which is a Christian philosophy of education states that the ultimate purpose of education is to nurture people within their relationship with God and prepare them to fulfill their “God-given” potential. Education is seen as a transformative process where students receive guidance to discover their unique talents and purposes with God's plan that he may have for them. Axiologically, which is a Christian philosophy of education that stresses the importance on moral and ethical values. It recognizes the importance of teaching virtues such as honesty, integrity, compassion, and humility (Bennett, 1993). These values are not only theoretical but to be combined into education, which shapes the character and behavior of students. Implications for Educational Practice The principles of a biblical worldview and a Christian philosophy of education have profound implications for educational practice. These implications stretch further then religious instruction and are feasible to the bigger picture of education. Curriculum Development: A biblical worldview calls for a curriculum that combines faith with learning. Educators should investigate connecting academic subjects with biblical principles, that demonstrates how God's truth aligns with all areas of knowledge (Barton, 2004). Character Formation: Education should not only focus on cognitive development, but it should also focus on character formation. Teachers should model and teach virtues in the classroom. Implementing an environment where students learn to make better decisions (Gutek, 2014).
