Hello Benjamin, When it comes to transportation within a city, there are several decisions that need to be made. Elected officials have to weigh multiple options to provide the best outcome for its citizens. There need to be rational decisions and analytical decisions to provide the most knowledge. “A city’s transportation network is its cardiovascular system—a multifaceted structure that enables the continuous flow of people and goods through its arteries” (Chechulin et al., 2021). A decision must be made that will benefit the community as a whole and will not have long-term effects. I was torn between the street widening decision and the southway decision until I weighed the outcome and decided on the southway decision. The reason I did not go with the street widening option was because the impact it would have on the local businesses during the construction period. This would have the potential to harm the community because businesses lose income and people do not want to deal with the traffic caused by construction. The southway option cuts down the traffic aspect the most and the residential community would get used to the change around them and it would have eventually would have happened in their area. The Bible tells us, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:6-7, ESV). As public servants we need to turn everything over to God because we do not know the best decision to make, and we need guidance from God. This could be praying about each decision and trying to find wisdom on this decision. References Chechulin, D., Mohr, D., Pokotilo, V., & Woetzel, J. (2021, August 11).
