When it comes to religion and/or spirituality, I think more organizations should be more open
regarding this sensitive topic. This is an important aspect in an organization because we work
closely with people who have different religious and/or spiritual beliefs. Everyone has different
stand viewpoints regarding religion such as Christianity, Catholicism, atheism, or different
spiritual beliefs such as mystical, authoritarian, or intellectual etc. Often some employees will
not see eye to eye when it comes to this topic. Therefore, why should top leaders allow religion
and/or spirituality at work? I believe that top leaders should allow it at work, but they must
educate employees about different religious and/or spiritual practices which can have the
potential to reduce workplace conflicts due to every individual having misunderstandings. Top
leaders should make it a priority to establish a work environment where everyone beliefs should
be inclusive since all religious observances, practices, and beliefs are deemed a federally
protected class. Top leaders can implement employee training which should include religious
differences along with other dimensions of diversity or create work policies where every
employee has the responsibility to become more aware, knowledgeable, and most importantly be
respectful of every individual non-religious, religious and/ or spiritual beliefs.
