Report
Covey’s approach to organizing your life is consistent with a Christian worldview. He discusses several structuring principles to support his views, such as personal vision, the social mirror, expanding the circle of influence, and listening to our language. All of those view points are inline with He also told us about many inspirational and informative stories to motivate us to apply different character-building habits for self-improvement. However, what stood out to me the most was his analysis of proactivity and how we are responsible for our lives. This is also based on his first habit, which is being proactive. His viewpoint on proactive people positively affected me because I consider myself proactive, especially regarding religion. His stories also made me aware that some people he talked about reacting to hardship and challenging times aligned with having faith in God and treating people how they want to be treated. Covey silently tells us that Jesus can improve our lives if we let him take over our problems. According to Covey (2021, p. 3), proactive people's behavior is a product of their own conscious choice based on values rather than a product of their conditions. This statement, in my opinion, is accurate because I make most of my choices based on value, especially at work. I am always the first to take the initiative to do something new or develop a new job improvement idea. Now, I know this is based on a proactive person mindset. Covey's concept that proactive people can carry their weather was a powerful and somewhat spiritual statement. It made me aware that people are paying attention to me and looking for me to influence them. If people are watching me, I must proactively choose how I want God to see and use me because I am an excellent candidate to show what God has done and is doing for me. Colossians 3:12, KJV says, “Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, and humbleness of mind, meekness, and longsuffering.” This aligns us with the biblical teachings of Christ on how He desires our light to be shown to the world. If Christians are proactive about spreading the Word of God, they can save many lives and help people make the right decisions before it is too late. Many people need a positive approach to aligning their lives with God. This verse also reminds me how important it is to spread the Word of Jesus and address issues before they arise. They must always let their light shine brightly.
