Discussion:
The category that stuck out the most to me was the deaths per thousand in the 15-24 age bracket. I was a teen in the 1980’s and I don’t recall deaths or suicide being a major topic of discussion like it is or has been recently. The data provided in the spreadsheet and on the website indicates that the deaths have been nearly cut in half over the last 34 years. Yet, there seems to be an endless outcry and awareness towards the number of deaths in 15-24 age bracket due to accidents, homicide and suicide. I’m left wondering what numbers are correct.

Discussion:
If the data that was provided in the spreadsheet is accurate and the information listed on the website is correct, then I am confused. The reason I state this is, we are provided with an endless
amount of media (news outlets, social media, radio and television) that says the 15-24 age bracket is committing suicide at alarming rates compared to past decades. This is usually
followed with an explanation as to what the possible or probable contributing factor was that cause them to do the act. Again, I had thought the suicide rate for this age bracket would have been much higher. 3.

Discussion:
I would have thought that this would have been much higher in both categories. I was under the impression that teenage alcohol consumption and abuse was on the rise. I was also under the impression that alcohol abuse among the 20-40-year olds was nearly an epidemic. The website stated that “An estimated 88,00 people die from alcohol related causes annually, making alcohol the fourth leading preventable cause of death in the United States.” The data provided listed approximately 25,000 deaths in 2014 which is approximately 30% of the number listed in the website. If the website is correct, then the numbers would suggest that more of the population would have liver disease and/or cirrhosis as they got older if they continued to use and abuse alcohol. 4. As I read this question the first thing that came to my mind was the class I am enrolled in now, ETHC 210. We are currently studying and engaged in the topic of transhumanism. According to the Oxford Dictionary, the definition of transhumanism is, “the belief or theory that
the human race can evolve beyond its current physical and mental limitations, especially by means of science and technology.”

This is a very vague definition. The topic ranges from basic
vaccinations and the use of hearing aids to simple medical procedures such as; lasik eye surgery, hip replacements and knee surgery. The hardcore believers are seeking and attempting the use of
science, technologies and modern medicine to create a superhuman and/or a human clone. Their belief is to extend human life and to defy death. I believe that God has provided us with the knowledge and the means to live a happier, healthier and more productive life without the illnesses and diseases that have been around for centuries. I would submit that “So God created 1
