1 Reflection Essay Caroline B. Johnson Liberty University THEO 104: Introduction to Theology Survey Dr. Thomas Spotts March 8, 2024
2 Reflection Essay Changed View of Theology This course has taught me a lot about theology and has somewhat changed my view of theology. For example, realizing the implications of the Gospel helped to shift my view of theology. This is because it helped me to realize that God is the main character of the Gospel, and we are merely characters in his story. Because of this, we must live out God’s plan for each of our lives and in doing so, we must spread the Gospel. This course also showed me that as believers, we are to be engaged in the culture. That is, we are to teach the Gospel no matter where we are or what our vocation may be. Even if our vocation may not be considered “sacred” by the world’s standards, it should be sacred, because believers should be in the vocation God has called them to. With this in mind, believers can consider their workplace as their mission field, and not avoid talking about their faith simply because their vocation is not considered sacred. This aligns with the Great Commission which says, “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost” (Matthew 28:19, KJV). Application This course has helped me to seek a heart of worship. A heart of worship helps the believer to love God and have rightly ordered loves. When this happens, the believer can worship the Lord wholeheartedly, and because of the believer’s love for others, he/she will be emboldened to share his/her faith. This is because God loves his children, and he inhabits our worship. “But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel” (Psalm 22:3, KJV). As I seek a heart of worship, I have found this to be true.
