Teach One Another: The Power of Obedience.
I had a thought-provoking discussion with my sister about the power of obedience. She explained that obeying God's commandments willingly means doing it with all our might, mind, and strength, whereas obeying unwillingly means being compelled. We need to trust in God's promise and keep the commandments willingly without asking why. Obedience is a test of our agency, and we need to follow Nephi's example in keeping God's commandments willingly to gain wisdom and divine strength to overcome the temptations of the world.
I shared Nephi's experience and explained that we often face the same challenges in our daily lives. We all need to embrace Nephi's courage to go and do. I also shared an account found in 2 Nephi 31:7 about the Savior, who, despite being the only begotten son of God, was humble enough to keep his Father's commandments. He did so to set a perfect example for us to follow as his disciples. President Russell M. Nelson's talk "Let God Prevail" also provided some inspiring insights on the gospel net to gather Israel, as well as this week's readings.
The highlight of the discussion was when I explained that due to the advancing world, it can be challenging for people to fully embrace gospel principles and live their lives according to the Lord's standards. However, if we love God and His son, Jesus Christ, with all our might, mind, and strength and allow God to intervene in our personal lives, keeping the commandments can become part of our daily habits. If we endure to the end, we will be protected from the temptations of the devil, and we will receive eternal life.
