2 Session 2 Paper Understanding the world through the eyes of Jesus incorporates views about how people interact with Yahweh into the fundamental beliefs of Christianity. Jesus' teachings offer a worldview that values love, forgiveness, and compassion. This viewpoint promotes relationships founded on honor, compassion, and an experience of relationships with each other. These fundamental elements distinguish our religion from different worldviews. Christianity's five core principles include scriptural authority, trust in the Trinity, love rather than sin, Jesus Christ's salvation, and the church. Everything else is based on these fundamental facts. "Christians believe God makes himself known in nature and the Bible. These two forms of revelation establish a world view--- a pattern of ideas, beliefs, convictions, and habits ----that leads us and others to flourish." (Myers & Noebel, 2015, p. 29) Christians may disagree on little issues, but fundamental beliefs will always remain. The Bible, which consists of the Old and New Testaments, is essential to the Christian faith. Christians believe God inspired the Bible. Human authors wrote it under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. "All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and training in righteousness." (Zondervan, 2020, 2 Timothy 3:16). For Christians, the Bible is the ultimate authority on spirituality, integrity, and belief. It offers guidance for daily life, ethical choices, and comprehending God's plan. In Hollywood Worldviews, Godawa makes a point of the authenticity of the Bible, “It is not that the Bible is questionable; it is our interpretation of the Bible that is always questionable.” (Godawa, 2002/2009, p. 120) Without God as our center, our source, we can not honestly know His word as He intended. "Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path." (Zondervan, 2020, Psalm 119:105). The Bible is
3 God's revelation to mankind. It reveals His character, plan of redemption, and love for us. "And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth." (Zondervan, 2020, John 1:14). Christians read the Bible to grasp God's redeeming work better, learn about Jesus Christ, and grow in faith. Regular reading, focus, and devotion to its teachings are essential. "But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves." (Zondervan, 2020, James 1:22). In its entirety, the Bible is more than an account of history or a collection of stories about how He intended us to live. God's living Word forms our beliefs, values, and relationship with Him. God the Father is the Creator of all things. He is almighty, omnipresent, holy, righteous, and compassionate. He is also powerful, loving, and everlasting. He is our source, and although all we need in life, He did design us to desire family and companionship, He is ultimately all we need. "I am the path, the truth, and the life," said Jesus to the man. I am the only path that leads to the Father.” (Zondervan, 2020, John 14:6) Jesus is God's divine and entirely human WordHe was born of a virgin, lived without sin, and worked miracles. Mankind is saved by the sacrifice he made on the cross. "And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory as the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth." (Zondervan, 2020, John 1:14), El Shaddai is the Spirit of God or Holy Spirit, the Navigator, the Comforter, and the Counselor. Believers are empowered for action and holiness by the dwelling of Jesus. “And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever— the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.” (Zondervan, 2020, John 14:16–17)
