Abortion Passions can run high when it comes to the matter of abortion. Some people are pro- abortion while others are anti-abortion. However, it is important to exam both sides of the argument in order to find out what the truth and the facts are. Now, the following paragraphs will demonstrate this. As well as help to shed light as to why it would be better for somebody to choose to be anti-abortion rather than be pro-abortion. Human lives matter, the act of abortion is wrong. One should examine all the facts in the areas of history of abortion, science of abortion and religious views, before considering the inhumane act of abortion. History of Abortion Within the early 1900s, a woman by the name of Margaret Sanger, had started the planned parenthood movement. According to (Kative,2015), Sanger was a huge crusader for women to have reproductive rights. Sanger was also a nurse and had taken notice of the fact that lots of low income, poor pregnant women unfortunately were turned away from proper medical care and as a result, would do lethal self-abortions to rid themselves of their unborn children (Kative,2015). This was due to the fact of not having enough money to pay to have a safe and clean abortion done properly. Due to the ramifications of this, Sanger pushed for women to be able to have the right to take charge of one’s own body and be able to take birth control pills to help aid and stop unwanted, and unexpected children from being born. Though it seems Sanger’s motive was pure with the intent to help and be a voice for her fellow woman. There are some who say that Sanger was racist towards the black low-class communities and that Sanger had used the planned parented movement as a coverup to contribute to the depopulation of certain poor communities. Science of the abortion The process and development of human life is amazing. Before we are born. The human baby goes through this amazing journey of life in three different stages of development within its mother’s womb and after about 40 weeks, a beautiful baby is born. The three stages of development are called the germinal stage, embryonic stage, and the fetal stage. Now according (Smith,2000) The argument here about abortion in the realm of conception, is that those who are pro-abortion believe that because the baby and or fetus is at early stages of development. That it justifies and or makes it right for the act of abortion to take place. While others argue that it does not matter what stage of development the baby is in. That it is still a human life and thus the act of abortion is murder (Andrei&Lon,2014). Religious views Christians take the stand on biblical principles that children are a gift from the living God, as mentioned in the Holy Bible. The act of abortion of human life is completely inhumane and shows no mercy or regard for an unborn child’s right to live (Andrei&lon,2014). Christians also examine and use scriptures to back up their claims of the act of abortion being wrong. Such as, Christians argue that the Holy Bible mentions that God hates hands that shed innocent blood (Andrei&Lon,2014). As well as there are other and better alternatives to abortion such as, putting a child up for adoption or educating people about the cons of someone following through with an abortion. Such as, having to live with the guilt of have had ending an unborn child’s life (Smith,2000). Conclusion 3
