Throughout this class, I've broadened my understanding of how beliefs, assumptions, and values affect everything. From personal beliefs to large corporations and their advertisements. These new understandings allow me to better understand myself, my friends, my family, and strangers I
meet. Previously I would make assumptions based on my own beliefs and values. Now, I can really assess the information I am receiving to seek an understanding of where I am getting the information, so I can make better judgments when it comes to another's beliefs, assumptions, and
values. I can also do inner reflection to understand my own preconceived ideas and where they originate from.
These changes have helped me in several areas of life. From parenthood to my marriage, to my relationships with those close to me. I can better understand where those around me are coming from, and even when I don't understand them or their situation, I can use the information I learned from this class to seek understanding, instead of assuming that I know what they are going through or dealing with. I can also bring this information to other classes to better my critical thinking abilities and challenge my understanding of the assignment or class.
