The difference between value, ethics, and law is value is a personal perspective its what I value in my life and what drives my decision. Values is what pertains to our belief and attitude
and gives us direction to living everyday. While ethics pertains more to beliefs and values that
constitutes rights to conduct and " It’s a process of reflection in which people’s decisions are shaped by their values, principles, and purpose rather than unthinking habits, social conventions, or self-interest." ( Ethics Explainer: Ethics, morality & law, 2016) Law is more structured rules that is utilized to govern society. For counselor the reason we have ethics is because we will always face difficult situations where we have to make choices and having the
ethical guideline helps with making these decision. Studying to become a mental health counselor I would be using the American Mental Health Counseling Association Code of Ethics.
