Do you think Moralistic Therapeutic Deism is an accurate reflection of society today? What are relevant examples you can provide that support your conclusion? I believe the moralistic therapeutic deism is an accurate reflection of society today. One rule that many kids were taught growing up was the golden rule: treat others the way you want to be treated. I never forgot the rule because it was drilled into my head over and over again when I was younger. My church is an example of moralistic therapeutic deism. As time has passed, there have been no teenagers for a few years because many teens do not care to go to church when their views do not go with the church. “AWVI 2021, the first-ever national study of biblical and competing worldviews, found that although three out of four people (74%) who embrace MTD consider themselves to be Christians…” (Staff, 2021). The youth are not consistently going to church or reading their Bible and doing prayers and may be considering themselves Christians. I believe there is hope that the younger generations will realize that this way of thinking is not the Biblical way of thinking. People in ministries will help reach the people who have this mindset to help save and sanctify them because Jesus is the only way to get to heaven. Staff, C. R. C. (2021, April 27). In addition, offer critical thought when clarity or correction is needed. In all matters, be encouraging to each other in your replies. Hi Kadyn, I appreciated reading your point of view on Moralistic Therapeutic Deism. Reading other people’s opinions on the same subject is always interesting, and it is nice to gain new insight on the topic. I love how you opened your discussion with an analogy. I believe snowflake described our society perfectly. Your point about the world bending the gospel to fit their narrative is an interesting but accurate one. It is becoming a huge problem, and we are losing sight of God in today’s world. It is a false representation of Christianity when people claim to be Christian but bend the word to fit in today’s world. In addition to being a dangerous practice, this can damage many people’s perception of what it means to be a follower of God. People want to learn about God but do not know how it can potentially be discouraging when they see people who do this. We must understand that in order to get where we want to be in life, we have to spend time with God and in the word each day to get to know him better. I think you did an amazing job with your discussion thread.
