Report
I1L. “A majority of Americans continue to say they see the effects of climate change in their own communities and believe that the federal government falls short in its efforts to reduce the impacts of climate change.” “Including more than half of Republicans and overwhelming shares of Democrats say they would favor a range of initiatives to reduce the impacts of climate change.” “A recent Center analysis finds 60% view climate change as a major threat to the well-being of the United States, as high a share taking this view as in any Pew Research Center survey going back to 2009.” A new study conducted this year amongst 10,957 U.S adults shows that the majority of these adults desire that the government play a bigger role in the progression of environment and climate changes. “About two-thirds (65%) of Americans say the federal government is doing too little to reduce the effects of climate change.” Address Opposing Arguments A. Explain the argument that opposes yours: 1. Many people refuse to help clean and maintain the planet because they feel that it is the government’s duty. They believe that it is the government’s fault that the environment is suffering. Many believe that while they help do their share it will never be enough without the government’s involvement. B. Examples, quotes, and brief analysis that supports the opposition: L, “Governments generally agree on the science behind climate change but have diverged on who is most responsible how to track emissions-reduction goals, and whether to compensate harder-hit countries.” The government can see the issues that arise from pollution and climate changes; however, the majority of the time they do not focus on resolving the problem but instead try to place the blame on the past and other countries. C. Demonstrate understanding- This paragraph is where you should demonstrate the validity of the opposing view. l. 2; The lack of government incentive is causing the environment to decay. So many years of disregarding this issue has resulted in much damage. For example, “Pollution was responsible in 2016 for 940,000 deaths in children, two-thirds under age 5.”
