Transparency is about access to information, which helps prevent corruption and provides insight into potential conflicts that may influence decision-making. In the United States transparency is guarded by federal, state, and local laws. Transparency promises to provide an “apparently simple solution to complex problems—such as how to fight corruption; promote trust in government; support corporate social responsibility; and foster state accountability” (Birchall, 2014, p. 77). Also having transparency promotes accountability and provides information on what different government officials are doing. Being open and transparent helps build trust within the communities by making sure more information is shared publicly, It also builds confidence in the government it shows that the government is listening and trying to get things done. Hello Bethany, Governments have had a challenge in finding the balance between being transparent and getting things done. Many challenges are in place because of the loss of trust of the citizens in the government because they are not keeping up with their deal when it comes to being transparent in what's happening or different policies that are in place. After all, everyone has their agenda, and they are losing the significance of what's important for the people because they want to justify their wrongdoings by moving away from the responsibility of making sure citizens are aware of what's going on. Hello Deiveonne, Yes, I agree that transparency od very important in the government, but governments have their agenda, and being transparent is the last thing most government officials are looking for, I also believe being transparent helps gain trust in the same communities that voted for this government, also some of the government use transparency as a way they feel would get people to agree to their plan but have other agendas on what they are trying to do instead of following policy most governments are following their selfish plan and at the same time, the citizens are the ones that suffer because they were either lied to or wasn’t provided information on what's going on.
