1 Khan (Student ID 260958548) Questions about Democracy: Reflection Muhammad Khan POLI 365: Democratic Theory Professor Allard-Tremblay Tuesday, November 1, 2022
2 Khan (Student ID 260958548) Through further advancement into course content and with the development of greater understanding about topics related to democracy, democratic theory, and democratic thinking, the initial responses to those questions about democracy that I provided can become deemed misdirected or lacking substance in comprehension. Most of the questions, specifically, #2, #3, #6, expanded my understanding of the entailments of democracy as the course content and readings, provided elements of perceiving the questions in manners that were before unknown to me. For question #6, “How could we improve our democracies?”, I provided a suggestion for the improvement of democracy that was focused on reinforcing and consolidating democratic tendencies through the active participation of citizens within their democratic and political ongoings. For questions #2 and #3, “What is valuable about democracy?” and “Why should we make decisions democratically?”, respectively, I found that my initial answers acted as precursor to the course material. In my initial answers I discussed the promotion of natural rights within democratic frameworks; I endorsed democracy as a champion for the universality and objective nature of these rights, which I found were substantiated by the thinkers highlighted in our readings, such as Alexis de Tocqueville. In my response regarding the necessity of democratic
