Language in politics is of paramount importance because it wields a significant impact on our perception and comprehension of political issues. The words and phrases politicians employ can influence our thinking and lead us to form distinct opinions. Consider the terms "illegal alien" and "undocumented immigrant" in the context of the immigration debate. "Illegal alien" logically emphasizes the idea of breaking the law, while "undocumented immigrant" shifts the focus to bureaucratic issues. These linguistic choices can logically drive us to hold different viewpoints on the same issue. Moreover, the language politicians use can subtly sway our opinions by triggering certain thoughts and emotions without us even realizing it. This is where logic comes into play. When they use specific words, it can logically lead us to develop specific ideas and feelings about a particular topic, which can influence individuals who are on the fence about an issue. The words used by politicians serve as logical tools that mold our perceptions of political matters. By framing issues in certain ways, politicians can logically guide our thought processes and, in turn, affect our decisions on policies and politicians References Nowrasteh, A. (2017, December 17).
