Milestone Three
Social media is a tool used to reach a significant amount of people across the globe. New media is any media from newspaper articles, blogs, and podcasts that are digital. Social media can be in the form of Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc. These sites are used by politi-
cians to get videos out about themselves, share their vulnerabilities, and grow their plat-
forms. “Social media and politics are inseparable” (Barnhart, 2022). I’d like to hi-light some key social media and new media strategies that could help with my campaign. The first strategy would be the use of Twitter (Daley & Daley, 2024). This is a form of social media. The justification would be that Twitter can get specific messages out and reach a large number of people at once including news outlets and well known blogs, etc. The
strength is that it is short and sweet, straight to the point, and you are able to make many posts in a row. People are able to repost your posts and get their own following to see them. This method is best to reach younger voters. The tactic would be to post multiple posts about my candidate and why they are the best candidate for the job. The weakness is getting your page out their and popular for many people to see. The second strategy would be the use of Facebook (Daley & Daley, 2024). This is a form of social media. The justification would be that Facebook can be a platform to showcase
a little bit about who you are and what your focus is on. People are able to follow your page and keep up with your campaign that way. The tactic would be to post significant campaign details such as political rallies and community events hosted by my candidate. The strength is
that Facebook is more personal than twitter and allows people to see your candidate in a more
depth point of view. They can see their family life and learn more about them this way. This
