Week 7-Discussion Thread-State Party Platform The Parties in which North Carolina recognizes: Democrats, Republicans, Libertarians, Green, and Constitutional Parties. My beliefs and thoughts align with the Republican party platform. Towards the start of instruction for Government 220 I had some ideas and beliefs towards how I felt regarding political parties. However, after taking this course, I’ve learned to realize more into detail the importance and stance of each individual political party and how it’s changed my way of thinking. The Republican party of North Carolina has a mission of freedom, accountability, liberty, and responsibility. My choice for standing with the Republican party is due to my belief in God and the biblical principles in which this party follows and presents. Romans 13:1 (KJV) “Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.” https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/? search=Romans%2013%3A1&version=KJV The Republican party is against abortion of a child, the murdering of a child is so wrong, which is why I chose to support the Republican Party Platform due to their strong beliefs in anti- abortion laws. The Republican Party Platform has so much information that I believe is aligned with my beliefs and can make our country great again. In North Carolina’s Preamble it starts with our former President and man of God. Ronald Reagan once said that, “America is too great for small dreams.” Throughout this great nation, people from all walks of life have dreamed of freedom, opportunity, and the chance to leave this world a better place for the next generation. The North Carolina Republican Party unequivocally defends that dream. We are the party of individuals and the institutions they create together families, schools, congregations, neighborhoods to advance their ideals and realize their dreams. We are the party that encourages
equality for all citizens and embraces the inherent value of every single human being God creates born and unborn. We are the party that defends the religious beliefs and rights of conscience of all Americans and safeguards religious institutions against government control. We reaffirm the Constitution’s fundamental principles: limited government, separation of powers, individual liberty, and the rule of law. As a Party, we denounce bigotry, racism, sexism, antisemitism, ethnic prejudice, and religious intolerance. We recognize God not government as the Author of these principles. We are the party that stands strong against tyranny and will fight at home and abroad to protect the lives and fundamental liberties of all people. I was able to examine the voting records and compare them to my current State Representative Republican, Junior Senator Ted Budd, who aligns with what he said he would do and has done. For example, he said he was against abortion. His voting matches this to be Pro- Life and in support of not murdering babies. Representative Republican, Junior Senator, Ted Budd also said he would strengthen our Defense system and voted for that as well, which makes him a man of his word. The views I would like to express to my congressional Representative are making sure that everything we do in voting and passing Congressional Laws, that it’s done through God first. Before I make any big definite decisions in my life, I pray to God asking him for assistance, answers, and to give me guidance. My views align with what my Representative
