Shergill 1 Bhavneet Kaur Shergill Dr. Greg Millard POLI 1110: Ideology & Politics 28 November 2023 Provisional Vision Finding the elements that raise everyone's standard of living is crucial to building a just and peaceful society. This article addresses social justice and equality, environmental sustainability, and inclusive government as the three fundamental components of a perfect society. seeking to ascertain whether ideas put out by ideologies such as Confucianism, green politics, and indigenous worldview align with the provisional vision. With its emphasis on social justice, grassroots democracy, and ecological knowledge, the provisional vision is strongly aligned with the tenets of green politics. Green politics is devoted to inclusive governance, social equity, and environmental sustainability. The emphasis on environmentally sustainable techniques, social justice, and democratic governance demonstrates this alignment. Green Politics shares the following characteristics with my vision: Environmental Sustainability: Environmental sustainability is highly valued in green politics. The Green politics promotes actions and legislation that lessen carbon emissions, save the environment, and promote sustainable development. “Ecocentrism prioritises healthy ecosystems because they are a prerequisite to human health and wellbeing.” (Vézina, 2021) This fits my ideal society in which environmental sustainability is valued highly. Inclusive Governance:
Shergill 2 Green Politics shows itself to be a powerful model of inclusive governance. This movement offers a vision of a society where power is decentralized, voices are heard, and choices are made with the welfare of both people and the earth in mind by promoting grassroots democracy, political participation, and community involvement “Building a green economy means more than just putting up solar panels. Profound changes to how we work, live, and consume will need inclusive governance, to ensure that people are consulted and on board with change.” (Inclusive Governance, 2021) which aligns with my vision of a society with inclusive and participatory governance. Social Justice and Equality: The goals of the Green Politics provide a guide for creating a society in which each person can prosper and advance humankind as a whole in a world that is in need of fairness and equality. “Human Security provides the following definition of human security: “to protect the vital core of all human lives in ways that enhance human freedoms and human fulfillment.” (Pink, 2021) It is clear that there is limited compatibility between Confucianism and my Provisional Vision. Although social peace is emphasized in both, my vision differs from Confucianism's due to its hierarchical structure and lack of clear emphasis on environmental sustainability and inclusive government. “The use of Confucianism to justify sociopolitical hierarchies continued in the following dynasties but hierarchical interpretations of Confucianism were not left unchallenged” (Ziliotti, 2022) The underlying emphasis on maintaining social order through defined roles and connections may conflict with my goal of creating a society that actively addresses prejudice and systematic inequality. The differences between Confucianism and my vision for a more just and sustainable future are further highlighted by the lack of a clear position on inclusive government and environmental preservation.
Shergill 3 Based on the insights gained from examining ideologies such as Confucianism and green politics in relation to my provisional vision, I may consider changing certain components to improve compatibility and fix potential flaws. In this list are some to reinforce my vision's commitment to environmental sustainability, including targeted regulations or programs that promote eco-friendly conduct. A few strategies to do this include increasing financing for clean energy technologies, implementing regulations encouraging businesses and individuals to adopt sustainable practices, and enhancing public transportation. acknowledging the importance of open communication and constructive discourse in my vision. This is consistent with green politics and has the potential to foster cooperation and communication by building a bridge between viewpoints that might otherwise seem incompatible. Since civic education is essential to promoting inclusive governance, I would consider incorporating educational initiatives within my vision. This can mean fostering a sense of civic engagement, increasing awareness of one's rights and obligations as citizens, and encouraging critical thinking regarding societal issues. Modified versions of provision vision Inclusive Governance: In my ideal society, the governance system would be incredibly inclusive and participatory. I think everyone should have an equal chance to gain from the resources that the nature and society provide for us. Any discrimination that prevents us from receiving equal treatment and justice under the law will be actively opposed. There would be actual public participation in decision-making, and government acts would be transparent and answerable.
