Week 8 Discussion Expand on course CLOs: When selecting a measurement method, consider the behavior change goals and expected direction of behavior change. What methods of measurement did you incorporate for this week of interventions to prepare for the Final? To expand on course CLOs (Course Learning Outcomes) with a focus on selecting a measurement method that aligns with behavior change goals and the expected direction of behavior change, and to detail the methods of measurement incorporated for a week of intervention. According to Cooper et. al. (2019), "The Premack principle states that any Response A can reinforce any other Response B if the independent rate of A is greater than the independent rate of B. This theory demonstrates reinforcer relativity, where the relative probabilities of responses can be more impactful than preference. “In other words, I used the "First and Then principle". I implemented this at the start of the week to study for the final (first) after the SAFMEDS studying. I then reinforced myself by playing some video games with my brother-in- law on Tuesday (then) for Monday and Tuesday after the studying was completed. Another method of measurement I used was Differential reinforcement of Alternative behavior. I would reinforce myself for not engaging with my phone and switch back to studying for my final, with the junk food of my preference that is not usually available in my diet. This intervention worked well for me, it increased my focus time and decreased my dependence on my phone (Cooper et. al., 2019).
