Looking at the reading this week, especially in Corey chapter 15 looking at table 15.3 and 15.4 pick  4 out of all the therapies listed in these 2 tables and list 3 goals each and 3 therapeutic relationships they have from table 15.4. According to Corey (2021), the goals of the four following therapies are as follows: 1) Psychoanalytic Therapy i. To make the unconscious conscious. ii. Reconstruct the basic personality. iii. Assist clients in reliving earlier experiences and working through repressed conflict. 2) Adlerian Therapy i. Challenged the client’s basic premises and life goals. ii. Offer encouragement so individuals can develop socially useful goals and increase social interest. iii. Developed the client’s sense of belonging. 3) Existential Therapy i. Help clients see they are free and become aware of their possibilities. ii. Challenge clients to recognize that they are responsible for events they formerly thought were happening to them. iii. To identify factors that block freedom. 4) Person-Centered Therapy i. Provide a safe climate conducive to client self-exploration. ii. Help the client recognize blocks to growth and experience aspects of self that were formally denied slash disoriented.
iii. Enable clients to move toward openness, greater trust, and self-willingness as a process and increase spontaneity and aliveness. According to Corey (2021), the therapeutic relationships of the four previously identified therapies are as follows: 1) Psychoanalytic Therapy i. The classic analyst remains anonymous, and clients develop projections toward him or her. ii. The focus is on reducing the resistance that develops working with transparency and establishing more rational control. iii. Clients undergo long-term analysis by engaging in free association to uncover conflicts and gain insight by talking. 2) Adlerian Therapy i. emphasis on joint responsibility initially determining mutual trust and respect goals and equality ii. focuses on identifying, exploring, and disclosing mistake goals and faulty assumptions within the person's lifestyle. 3) Existential Therapy i. The therapist’s main tasks are to accurately grasp clients’ being in the world and establish a personal and authentic encounter with them. ii. The immediacy of the client-therapist relationship and the authenticity of the here-and-now encounter are stressed. iii. Both the client and therapist can be changed by the encounter. 4) Person-Centered Therapy i. The relationship is of primary importance. ii. Qualities of therapist – geniuses, warmth, accurate empathy, respect, and nonjudgmental. iii. Clients use genuine relationships with therapists to help them transfer what they learn into other relationships. 2. When treating children with psychotherapy, it is essential to remember that children have different needs and may require different interventions than adults. Additionally, it's critical to consider the child's developmental stage and adjust the interventions as necessary (Nunez et al., 2022).
