Conditioning and Learning Plan After viewing the Conditioning and Learning Practice media piece, create your own operant conditioning training. Instructions: In Part 1, describe your scenario and the behavior that you would like to change. Ideas include (but are not limited to): Teaching your child to hang up their coat or backpack when they come in the door. Getting yourself to exercise a certain number of minutes a day or week. Teaching your dog to ring a bell when they need to go outside. Getting a trainee to come to work on time.  In Part 2, write your plan by filling out the boxes under Your Plan . Be sure to use complete sentences. As you type, the boxes will stretch to accommodate your typing as you go. Use the Notes column to further explain your plan. If you need guidance on your note taking, review the scoring guide, as the Disguished criteria column provides examples that may help you. Part 1: Scenario Instructions Scenario and Behavior Describe the scenario and the behavior you would like to change. Use the language of behavioral theory and operant conditioning to describe your scenario. Training my children to clean after themselves after each meal by applying the theory of Operant conditioning, and including this task in their chore chart. At the end of the week they will all be rewarded. Part 2: Plan Conditioning Principle Your Plan Notes Targeted Response: What is the behavior you want to see occur? I would like to see each child take the initiative to put dishes in the sink, wipe down the table, and sweep up any crumbs that are left on the floor. I usually reward the behavior with positive reinforcement like; giving the chidren ice cream or dessert. Primary Reinforcer The dessert or treat given to them after they complete their tasks. This is rewarding in itself. Secondary Reinforcer The value of being clean, and the skills of basic life skills being taught. Quality my children are learning to value. 1
Conditioning Principle Your Plan Notes Schedules of Reinforcement Continous Reinforcement is applied to this task. Since we eat often this skill is repeated. Shaping The desired behavior in this scenario is getting each child to demonstrate tidiness on their own. The shaping technique can sometimes lead to punishment if the children do not comply, which should help them demonstrate the task needed. Optional follow-up: In this area, add any additional comments you would like to make about the operant conditioning exercise (not required). I enjoyed this exercise and learning about Operant Conditioning and the different techniques. 2
