Rubric for evaluation of the discussion board posting is available under the Rubrics tab. Discussion Boards : Discussion enhances learning as you share your ideas, perspectives, and experiences with the class. You develop and refine your thoughts through the writing process, plus broaden your classmates’ understanding of the course content. You promote a professional, substantive discussion. Use the following feedback to improve the quality of your discussion contributions. Residential format students are expected to fully engage in class discussions as outlined in the Rubric below. Instructor-guided peer-to-peer discussion facilitates deeper learning and your development as a professional. Online format students will have at least two required original posts per week responding to assigned questions to deepen your learning. Students are expected to be thorough in their responses to these questions, using graduate-level writing, correct grammar, and APA format. Please refer to the rubric explaining how postings will be evaluated. Please note that there may be multiple questions housed within one posting assignment, and all questions posed must be addressed. Typically, you will have two discussion boards you will focus on each week. In general, discussion boards involve two parts: (a) Thoughtful responses or an initial post to the questions/tasks that are asked for in Blackboard for that particular discussion board; and (ab) Thoughtful responses or replies to the initial posts of your peers. Initial Posts. Unless otherwise noted by your instructor, the initial post for your first discussion boards will always be due on Wednesdays of each week at 11:59 p.m. CST and your initial discussion for your second post (or third, if there is one) will always be due on Sunday at 11:59 pm CST. Peer Replies . Students are to respond to a minimum of two of their peers’ initial posts each week unless otherwise noted by the instructor. Responses to other students’ posts (to both discussion boards) will always be due by 11:59 p.m. CST on the Sunday of the week. The exception to this is the last week of classes when all assignments and peer replies will be due on Saturday. A minimum of two responses to other students’ posts (to each discussion board) are due by 11:59 pm CST on Sunday of each week. All discussion boards are worth 10 points (up to 5 points for the primary post and up to 5 points for peer responses). All discussion boards are worth 10 points unless otherwise noted (5 points for the initial post and up to 5 points for the combined peer responses). There are a few weeks when there will be more than two discussion board posts.
4 During those weeks, the third discussion board will also follow the same due dates as above unless otherwise noted by the instructor.
