Emotional Intelligence Action Plan Reflection 1. Did the Inventory results confirm important factors you were already aware of? If so, what were they? Answer: The results did confirm factors that I was already aware of as I received the intuitive result. I have always been able to read the room and pick up on body language cues in other people. I also received a higher score in the wellbeing category which I was aware of. I have always been aware of how fortunate I am and as a result, I exhibit positive attitude towards life. 2. If they were confirmed, do you feel a need to work on those areas? If so, they should be addressed below in your action plan. Answer: I believe that I can always improve on these areas by improving my listening and observation skills. 3. Did the Inventory results surprise you in any way? If so, how or if not, why not? Answer: I was surprised that the empathy category was the third highest score in my results. I was surprised by this because though I can feel other peoples emotions, I am usually caught up in my own problems and tasks that I do not often think about others. 4. Based on the Inventory, what areas are your strongest? How do they help you as an individual, and as a member of “the community?” (Community could be a workplace, classroom, student organization, family, friends and so on). Answer: The areas I am strongest in include other awareness, empathy, and wellbeing. Other awareness helps me greatly when I am working in my restaurant. I am able to read the cues and expressions of guests to know when they may need something or if they are not satisfied with their dining experience. This helps me to take action quickly to resolve the issue. Empathy can help me to connect with others in the classroom and professional workplace. Having strength in the wellbeing category can help me to connect with others in social situations and form relationships. 5. Based on the Inventory, what areas may need attention to enable you to have positive internal and external outcomes? Answer: I could improve my self-awareness skills by trying to understand my own emotions which will eventually lead to less stress and more positive outcomes. 6. Use your answers to the above and the “EI Strategies to Improve” document to develop actions in each category below. Your action steps must include timeframes - when you will begin and complete activities. Ongoing activities should have a start date and may be “ongoing” instead of having a completion date.
