The average salary for a random sample of 25 experienced (12 or more years) full professors in psychology graduate departments in 2012 was $125,195, with a standard deviation of $43,036. The population, all full professors with all years of experience in psychology graduate departments across the country, earned an average salary of $111,960, with a standard deviation of $40,295. Did the average salary of the experienced full psychology professors differ from that of all full psychology professors as a whole? experienced professors did recieve more income but was not very distant to the populations of proffessors as whole. My hypothesis would be that experienced full psychologist get paid more than professors with lesser experience. (Hint: For this question think about your hypothesis and making a decision) Let’s assume the average speed of a serve in women’s tennis is around 118 mph, with a standard deviation of 12 mph. We recruit 100 amateur tennis players to use our new training method this time, and after six months we calculate a group mean of 123 mph. Using a 95% confidence interval, test the hypothesis that our method makes a difference. a. Using a 95% confidence interval test the hypothesis that our method makes a difference. using 95% confindence interval test the method does not make a difference b. Compute the effect size and describe its strength -0.41 is effect size having no strength
The average age for licensed drivers in a county is = 42.6, = 12, and the distribution is approximately normal. A county police officer was interested in whether the average age of drivers receiving speeding tickets differed from the average age of the driving population. She obtained a sample of N = 16 drivers with speeding tickets. The average age for this sample was M = 34.4 and alpha = 0.05. Calculate the effect size for this study. effect size is 0.68 42.6-34.4/12
