Hypothalamus By: Stephanie Delgado and Abigail Montgomery 1. Where is it located? Describe where it is located in the brain : Where the Hypothalamus is located is in bottom- back part of your brain near the top of the spinal cord above the pituitary gland and below the third ventricle (Shahid et al., 2023). 2. What are its major functions? The major function of hypothalamus releases different hormones into your blood then the hormones travel to the pituitary gland. These are the growing hormones, corticotropin-releasing hormone, and the thyrotropin-releasing hormone, and somatostatin, and dopamine (Shahid et al, 2023) 3. What techniques (ex. medical technologies like an EEG) are used to view or measure it: People use (MRI) also known as Magnetic Resonance imaging which is used to create the maps of the hypothalamus (Lemaire et al, 2013). 4. What happens when it is damaged: When is part of the brain gets damaged, it effects the human body and mind in many ways for example it negatively affects body temperature, growth, weight, water balance, milk production, emotions, and even sleep cycles, (Jimenez et all, 2023). 5.
