The PLISSIT model, developed by Jack Annon in 1976, is a modeling system used to stablish different levels of therapeutic intervention for individual clients. PLISSIT is an acronym for the four levels of intervention that a sex therapist can apply: (P) permission, (LI) limited information, (SS) specific suggestions, and (IT) intensive therapy (Tuncer & Oskay, 2021). Mindfulness can be defined as awareness with acceptance and non-judgment and involves the cultivation of the ability to be non-reactive to thoughts, feelings, and body sensations. The mindfulness method is a practice in patience and sexual awareness without judgment. This technique cultivates an awareness of the present moment through strong interpersonal and even spiritual modules. This detached awareness has become useful in the treatment of sexual dysfunction in individuals and couples. Langer (2014) proposes that there are four qualities associated with mindful thinking: novelty seeking, engagement, novelty producing, and flexibility. An individual that is novelty seeking views each situation and an opportunity to learn something new, while an individual who is engaging is more observant and detail oriented in regard to their relationship. An individual that is novelty producing will create new information in order to learn about a situation, and an individual who is flexible is more welcome to change. The erotic mindfulness method in turn may be an efficient and fulfilling method which facilitates the healingof a wide range of sexual issues including sexual trauma. Brief Strategic Family Therapy or BSFT is a short-term therapy model that can be implemented into sex therapy. BSFT is based on the premise that an individual’s relationships (in this case a sexual relationship) play an important role in life and development. Using Brief Structural Family Therapy as a tool in sex therapy can help an individual or couple identify and change patterns of interaction within the relationship, ultimately overcoming any sexual issues that they may be experiencing in a brief amount of time. BSFT is individualized and tailored to a couple’s unique situation and the techniques that can aid in change are: Joining, tracking and diagnosing, and restructuring. Joining involves the creation of a therapeutic alliance with the couple in which mutual respect and consideration helps the couple to feel that the therapist is on their side. This also aids the therapist in better understanding the couple’s experiences, how they interact with each other, and their relationship as a whole. Tracking and diagnosing is used to identify the couple’s strengths and weaknesses, helping the therapist to better create a treatment plan. Restructuring involves the application of different strategies to help address the issues discussed and how they contribute to overall resolution of the couple’s sexual dysfunctions (Sessen Negash, et al., 2009).
