salat Reflection Salat Mo Name Students with Exceptionalities Mrs. Whitney Stovall October 18 2020 Reflection I made a modification to help my student with autism understand addiction better. I used count bears, which are objects that can be moved and put together. By physically moving the count bears, it becomes easier for the student to understand addition. For example, if we have 2 yellow bears and 1 blue bear, I would ask the student to add the yellow bear to the blue bear. Then, we would count them together to get the answer. One strength of my approach was that I had a student sitting next to me, so I could observe if he was understanding the concept. I also allowed him to touch and move the color bears, which helped him engage with the lesson. A weakness of my approach was that I didn't have enough materials. Instead of just using count bears, I could have used colorful chips or stackable objects for the students to use. Additionally, I could have paired the student with autism with his classmates, so he wouldn't feel left out. To make this lesson plan better for a future classroom, I will have the students work together in groups. I will also include online games for the students to play. Overall, by implementing these modifications, I aimed to create a more engaging and effective learning experience for my student with autism.
