3-2 Annotated Bibliography-Stress, Resilience, Prevention Source #1 Meyer, M. A. (2020). The role of resilience in food system studies in low- and middle- income countries. Global Food Security , 24 . https://doi- org.ezproxy.snhu.edu/10.1016/j.gfs.2020.100356 This source discusses how the changes in the food systems in low and middle- income countries are associated with the increased demand for food due to population growth. According to this study, the population is expected to grow by 26% to 9.7 billion in 2050. Along with the growth, changes in diets also have an impact on food demands such as animal-based diets and imported and processed foods. Resilience is defined in this article as “the ability of a system to maintain its societal functions through the system's robustness, adaptiveness, and transformability in response to internal and external stress” ( Folke et al., 2010 ; Meuwissen et al., 2019 ). This is a review article written for Science Direct in 2020 and the intended audience is teachers, students, and the general public. There were no limitations noted however the authors did state that further research is needed. I found it relatively easy to comprehend compared to the other article I reviewed. I also found this article interesting because of my previous education in health and nutrition.
