Questionnaire Data Description The OSF website at https://osf.io/5qy2p/ contains a series of SPSS assignments. These assignments refer to two datasets. This page describes those two datasets, which are located at the same site. Questionnaire Data The Questionnaire Data were collected by Kimberly Barchard in the Psychology Subject Pool at University of Nevada, Las Vegas in 2002 and 2003. The 679 participants were told about the study on the Subject Pool website. They were told to complete the study on computers in the university computer labs. When they indicated that they wanted to participate, they were immediately sent to the consent form for the on-line questionnaire. The consent form explained that identifying information would be removed from the data set and then the anonymous data would be given to students completing statistics assignments. Completing the questionnaire took about 20 minutes in total. After they had completed the questions, they were told more about how this data would be used in statistics assignments and were invited to email the investigator if they had any questions. Participating in this study counted towards their course grade in one of their psychology courses. This study and the use of the data for later statistics assignments were approved by the Institutional Review Board at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Questionnaire Data Recoded This data set was derived from the dataset above. It has 500 participants instead of 679. It has the same variables, but some of these variables have been recoded. For example, for some variables, missing values were replaced with 0’s. For other variables, reverse coded items were created and a total score calculated. These changes were made to allow students to make meaningful interpretations of their statistical results.
