I was honored to get the opportunity to interview Dr. Foster, who honestly wears many hats between being a school psychologist for middle schools and a therapist with Telehealth. She often asks me which role she needs to speak from during our discussions to ensure that she gives the correct information. Foster stated that there is no school psychologist position in the state of Texas. Texas defines them as LLSPs, licensed specialists in school psychology, and called Clinicians (Physiotherapists). Foster says depending on the issue; it ranges from scales. Behavioral assessment: RNT (revised child assessment). It counts because a pretest is conducted to identify the intensity levels, confirm any pending issues, and develop a treatment plan. Post- tests are a part of monitoring the client's progress and determining the response to interventions. Any difficulties are administered based on the presented case. For instance, she was running a PQH9 mental health assessment. Typically, a general intake assessment is administered at the beginning of the process, which could be a biopsychosocial assessment that is often used. When conducting psychosocial groups, tools such as DBT or CBT help but it's all centered around the client's needs. Based on the interview and my observations with Foster, every part is client-based and client-driven. She mentioned as a clinician; she used different modalities for psychoeducation groups. Foster uses several assessments, but again she points out that the need determines the tool used. Specifically, Foster went down this list of evaluations that range from measurement tools such as the Spencer Anxiety Scale, Beck Anxiety Inventory, or GAD-7 (- for depression. Foster continued with the BASC-3 (Behavior Assessment System for Children), which measures behaviors and emotional disturbance like ADHD OR DEPRESSION (basically how the kid functions), and BASS (behavioral assessment screening system).
