2 Short Paper: Analyzing a Sample Intelligence-Achievement Report Strengths and Weaknesses In regard to the Weschler Abbreviated Scale of Intelligence 2 (WASI-2), Bob fell within the average range and demonstrated strengths in several categories: Verbal Comprehension, including English word definitions and verbal reasoning abilities, Similarities, Nonverbal Problem-Solving Skills, and Perceptual Reasoning Index. His overall Full Scale IQ score also falls within the average range, the average range meaning that his intellectual abilities are similar to peers of a similar age. However, his weaknesses were in the subtest areas regarding visual- spatial skills and Block Design. Looking at his results from the Wide Range Achievement Test- Revision 4 (WRAT-4), it is shown that he is strong in the Word Reading, Sentence Comprehension, and Reading Composite categories, however, struggles with Math Computation and Spelling. Overall Functioning Bob was found to be considered average in most skillsets, meaning he has similar intellectual abilities that are normal relative to peers that are close to his age. In order for the skills to be considered a strength, it should have fallen into the “above average” category, however the majority of his resulted in “average.” There were several weaknesses identified for Bob though including visual-spatial skills, math computation, and spelling. Math computation and spelling may have a negative impact on Bob’s overall functioning as it may make it more difficult to exceed academically as these skills are heavily used in educational settings. These weaknesses may cause Bob to perform at a lower standard than other peers his age in these categories. Visual spatial functioning and math and spelling skills have been shown to be correlated, so it would make sense that if he is below average in one of these skills that he would
