Adolescent Physical Development Newsletter 100 Years of Puberty Trends As a parent, it is hard to realize that when you blink your eyes your child is already grown up. As parents you reflect on when you experienced puberty changes and how soon or later your child experienced it. So many changes occur during puberty changes in reproductive organs, growth spurts which generally boys experienced a major growth spurt. Hormones begin to be the next fluctuating experience to the point for females it can be a very emotional time for them. Puberty is defined as a complex neuroendocrine development that a child experiences internally and externally preparing for adult stage of life (Dolgin, 2017). Over the last 100 years, puberty has begun around the age of 13 years, but it is known for children to experience puberty sooner than age 13. Puberty currently can start as early as age 10 in both sexes, but it is more common in girls as early as seven years old. Other ethnic backgrounds may seem to experience puberty sooner. Those changes that females may encounter is menstruation, physical development and sexual organs, voice pitches, acne, pubic and facial hair and distinct body odor. Effect of early and late onset Puberty Puberty is one of the important changes a child will experience as they grow up. This phase of life can be known for a lot of changes that can possibly turn into being bothersome to some and exciting for others. Adolescence is the well-known term to be used to define that transformation process for young individuals. 1Parents can often see a big difference in their child when they are trying to process and encourage sexual separation of the mind. Pre-adulthood also starts during this stage which generates more emotional and physiological changes. One way to encourage your child is to point them in the direction of getting jobs that allow them to be around others and interact with those similar in age. Being able to have a job will allow them to experience the importance of feeling wanted and having a purpose in life. All encouragement should be poured on those that struggle with seeing that they have a purpose and that they matter to so many others in their life. The more adolescents are active and involved in their community they will find those that help them succeed or ways to make their future the best it can be by making changes sooner than before its to late. During adolescence between 12 and 18 the teenager gain’s ability to think systematically about all logical relationships within a problem (Cognitive Development, 2023). Every adolescent progresses at their own pace. Not all teenagers experience the change at the same time. Since there are more emotions during this process it will be a setback for teenagers to process the change in a positive way. Teenagers will likely find themselves comparing to others in hopes they are liked and fit in with others their age. Each will have their own view of the world in their own way. Some will apply logical operations to schoolwork before applying to possible social problems with friends or other relationships they have in their life.
