State potential research topic? "What are effective accommodations for children (8-15) with a diagnosis of mental illness?" 1. Children's trauma. 2. Trauma treatment. 3. Traumatized and disabled children. 4. Mental health in children I. Applying social justice and "trauma-informed" practices when working with children with disabilities. Thomas-Skaf, B. A., & Jenney, A. (2021). Bringing social justice into focus: “Trauma-informed” work with children with disabilities. Child Care in Practice, 27(4), 316–332. https://doi.org/10.1080/13575279.2020.1765146 Objective: This study discusses the trauma that kids with disabilities go through; it relates to my issue. Owing to their illness, under the supervision of relatives or caretakers. This relates to the meetings that caretakers for mentally ill children have with children who are impaired. There is an increased incidence of violence aimed at children with impairments. This article demonstrates how the unique experiences of children with disabilities and the function of skills and impairments are inextricably linked, giving rise to the academic field of Critical Disability Studies—which arose from advocacy for the rights of people with disabilities.2. The effects of treatments for homeless youth. II. Effective strategies in the treatment of traumatized children and adolescents range from organizational procedures to guidelines. Lucio, R., & Nelson, T. L. (2016). Effective Practices in the Treatment of Trauma in Children and Adolescents: From Guidelines to Organizational Practices. Journal of Evidence Informed Social Work, 13(5), 469–478. https://doi.org/10.1080/23761407.2016.1166839 Objective: This article discusses successful treatments and methods for traumatized kids and teenagers. The fact that young people in America are exposed to terrible situations is alarming. If treatment is not received, these adolescents have a high chance of acquiring further physical and mental health problems as adults. In order to help young people, recover from the aftereffects of a traumatic experience, the authors of this research examine three important components: (1) recommended recommendations, (2) focused therapies, and (3) trauma-informed care framework. III. Children who have experienced collective trauma are the target audience for the "Journey of Hope" group intervention.
Powell, T., & Blanchet-Cohen, N. (2014). The Journey of Hope: A Group Work Intervention for Children Who Have Experienced a Collective Trauma. Social Work with Groups, 37(4), 297– 313. https://doi.org/10.1080/01609513.2013.873884 Objective: The preventive and therapeutic strategies to normalize feelings and build post-disaster coping skills are the main topics of this essay. This essay focuses on Journey of Hope, a school- based group intervention program that helps young people who have suffered from collective trauma like that caused by a natural disaster. This comprehensive approach necessitates an ecological approach to prevention and therapy, emphasizing the development of post-disaster survival skills and the normalization of emotions. IV. Trauma in mental health Children Abraham, E. H., Antl, S. M., & McAuley, T. (2021). Trauma exposure and mental health in a community sample of children and youth. Psychological Trauma: Theory, Research, Policy and Practice. Excerpted from: Mental health and trauma exposure in a community sample of young people. - PsycNET (apa.org) Objective: The primary subjects of this article were the research and conclusions about the connection between mental health problems and exposure to childhood trauma (Abraham, Antl, & McAuley, 2021). This paper explains how traumatized youngsters may be more susceptible to mental health problems, which is pertinent to my research.
