10-1 Final Project Submission: Intervention and Assessment Tools The foster father of a 13-year-old boy named Adonis is concerned about his behavior and he exhibits symptoms of conduct disorder. Furthermore, he is aggressive toward peers and adults, steals money from parents, and engages in other behaviors associated with his behavior in addition to lying to his foster parents. According to his medical history, Adoni has been diagnosed with anxiety and depression as well. Intervention Plan: Treatment Overview Conduct disorders affect 13% of boys between the ages of 9 and 18 according to the Journal of Ethics of the American Medical Association (2019). Thievery, vandalism, lying frequently, aggression, violating laws and rules, and fleeing from home or school are among the primary behaviors associated with conduct disorder. There is also a greater risk for adolescents with conduct disorders to develop antisocial personality disorders, as they can have difficulty regulating emotions, social difficulties, and a difficult time relating to others (Jacob, 2019). Developing the treatment and intervention plan for a delinquent child must consider factors such as the delinquency of the child, disengagement from school, possible abuse, and trauma. In addition to family support, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and medication, adolescents with conduct disorder often receive treatment for other symptoms and disorders. Jacob (2019) states that rehabilitation may be required for individuals who are experiencing security concerns, escalating behavior, or substance abuse problems. Intervention Plan: Legal System Involvement and Impact Although being in detention or a correctional facility might benefit some individuals since they are able to receive treatment, it may also aggravate the mental challenges of youth.
10-1 Final Project Submission: Intervention and Assessment Tools According to the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (2017), youth incarcerated or detained receive inconsistent treatment and screening and assessment. Foster kids and youth who grow up in adverse environments can suffer from mental health problems that are exacerbated by adverse environmental or familial conditions. A recent study found that foster children are more likely to suffer from psychiatric symptoms and substance use disorders than their peers. According to Keller et al. (2010) acknowledge that foster care can provide many benefits for children, including a safe environment and a home that meets their needs. Intervention Plan: Ethical Considerations Providers of treatment to minors within the legal system must consider all HIPPA laws, confidentiality laws, and counselors' and therapists' competencies. When deciding what treatment is best for a child with conduct disorder, they must be considered in the context of underlying mental health or psychiatric disorders. Keeping information confidential and not sharing it with others who are not authorized to see it are ethical considerations that should be taken into consideration first. There are also differences in state laws regarding the level of confidentiality a child is entitled to, as well as how much information parents are allowed to know about their children. It is possible to compromise someone's confidentiality when they threaten harm to themselves or others, abuse them, or neglect them. To provide counseling to children with conduct disorders and mental health issues, a counselor should also be properly trained and skilled (Ford Sori & Hecker, 2015). Outside Factor: Culture When assessing a foster child's involvement, it is important to consider their ethnic background. Kids' modification time can be impacted by this. Caregivers with different ethnic backgrounds
10-1 Final Project Submission: Intervention and Assessment Tools are more likely to suffer from depression and loneliness. When kids speak a different language from their foster parents, they may encounter behavioral issues. After three years of being separated from their primary homes, nearly half of foster children develop separation anxiety (Linares et al., 2010). Foster children are more likely to experience obstacles and social distractions. The foster system prohibits discriminating on the basis of race, color, or national origin as a result of past adoption disparities. This led to a higher adoption rate for minority children. Using this method, cultural considerations can be measured on a customized basis. The action successfully recruits foster parents who have each qualification. As a result of this action, a recommendation was made that each child's placement should be dependent on their ethnicity, religion, and background. Cultural compatibility can enhance the individuality of kids. Individuality is often equated with self-belief among youth. As a result of this defensive element, people are able to be vigorous when facing public difficulties. The development of character, academic achievement, ability to manage stress, and depression can be significantly impacted by cultural alliances (Anderson & Linares, 2012). Social networks can be less culturally connected among foster children growing up in a diverse environment. A lack of social support can lead to separation, seclusion, and despair. Religions, races, and cultures view psychological health and health care differently. People often determine their treatment based on three factors: their opinions, their experiences, and their knowledge. As opposed to a specialist, some religious beliefs suggest that religious leaders should be representatives of their communities or cultures. An example of this is the Amish people. It is rare for Amish to seek outside help with maintaining their traditions, as the majority of their practices are kept within the communities. A physician's office or a clinic for the Amish
10-1 Final Project Submission: Intervention and Assessment Tools is rarely seen. Mental health is dealt with differently in Amish communities than by going to a doctor and using prayer and fasting. Outside Factor: Family Families with foster children may not be able to provide adequate care for their children due to their inability to afford it. During the early stages of the family dynamic, violence, mental illness, and substance abuse may affect the dynamics. Neither the kid's birth parents nor his or her foster parents provide evidence that the kid's parents are mentally or physically healthy. Foster children can benefit greatly from encouragement. Since 2005, research on children's wellbeing has focused largely on families and differences within them. Growing up in a variety of family environments can lead to different results for a child. Parents' disconnection from their children can have a negative impact on them. In addition to affecting psychological health, interactional behaviors, substance abuse, and illicit sexual conduct itself, sudden changes in sexual behaviors can have significant effects on various functions and psychological health. Acock and Demo (1996) conclude that "disconnected families have greater differences in child well-being than families with different family styles, indicating that family practices are more important than family structures." Disconnection from aversive family situations can be beneficial to kids. It is also valid to accuse a parent of unsociable behavior. Multifamily changes can be harmful to kids. The consequences of this can be seen in the kids' behavior and variations within the community. Different types of families have different approaches to education. Kids and family arrangements have been greatly regulated in our country as a result of drug abuse. Opioid abuse has negatively impacted child welfare structures. Parents' involvement in the kids' welfare system and substance abuse therapy are significantly linked according to the opioid use
10-1 Final Project Submission: Intervention and Assessment Tools disorders and civil rights video and webinar series (n.d.). "I know of a number of child welfare cases where parents are addicted to alcohol or other drugs and their children are in the system or in foster care. (Opioid Use Disorder and Civil Rights Video and Webinar Series, n.d.) " Parents who abuse alcohol or drugs justify the removal of their kids".) The undercurrents in children's families may also influence how they perceive substance abuse and psychological health, as well as how they receive interventions. Outside Factor: Environment Adolescent foster children can't get the treatment they need because of their initial environment. Prior to being fostered, children who were abused, abandoned, socially excluded, abused substances, had socioeconomic problems, had anxiety and psychological disorders, as well as being abused, abandoned, and socially isolated. More than 500,000 foster children are abused and mistreated each year in the United States. Also, they have not developed due to a lack of a balanced environment. Interferences can be significantly impacted by any of these factors. The growth of an organization over a long and short period is influenced by several factors. Foster children are good candidates for care because their minds are highly active and their developmental stages are in good shape. Getting a child to respond in a frightening way to physical or emotional abuse can cause a child to have a strong anxiety reaction (Committee on Early Childhood, Adoption, and Dependent Care, 2000). Consequently, psychological and medical care needs can go unmet. Social problems can be caused by environmental stressors. Disruptive parenting and separation can lead to attachment problems, educational difficulties, and social decline. It is particularly important during exchange times to keep track of major connection statistics. These environmental factors are important for a person's intellectual development, dialect development, and community development. Depressing environments have
