FAITH Justification by God’s grace through faith in Jesus Christ makes up the great theme of Paul’s letters to the Romans.(Gundy 2012)
PAUL’S LETTERS o In Paul’s letters that he wrote many times, Paul uses stress on the word of faith, and as he wrote in scripture, Ephesians 2:8-9 says, “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.” (ESV). Paul speaks about the power of righteous faith and that clinging to faith can be so powerful that faith can lead us to salvation. Throughout the years, Paul’s faith becomes more than just a mental belief; it becomes his complete trust and commitment to serving God. 3
. Paul wasn’t one of the 12 apostles that Jesus chose. Some people said Ananias authorized him. Others accepted him just as a missionary that Antioch authorized. They thought the gospel of Paul undermined obedience because he emphasized salvation by faith alone. That’s why Paul began his letter by stating that no human authority endorsed his apostolate. He was made an apostle by Jesus Christ .
