Scripture Memory: Plan to recite these scriptures -Genesis 1: 26-28
26 Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.”
27 So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.
28 God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.”

Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.

Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.
-Psalm 51: 3-4 3 For I know my transgressions, and my sin is always before me. 4 Against you, you only, have I sinned and done what is evil in your sight; so you are right in your verdict and justified when you judge.

you have been saved,

What is the Gospel?
What is the Gospel (definition given in class)
The gospel is the kingly message of the eternal Son of God who was crucified, died during the incarnation, resurrected and descended to defeat death. He assumes the position of king over all and rescues his people from exile. The gospel drives out faith and repentance, provided entrance into the people of God and has a continual role in the life of a Christian. What is the Gospel (definition you gave in class)
The gospel is the only ticket to heaven. What are some of the topical contents that are essential to the Gospel message? (
Provide at least 3 scriptures from class)
-The gospel is connected to King David (Romans 1: 1-6)
-His crucifixion, death, and resurrection (and appearance to the 520) (1 Corinthians 15:1-11
-The connection of the gospel to God’s Kingdom (Mark 1:14-15)
What are some of the responses that are essential to the Gospel message? (
Provide at least 2 Scriptures discussed in class)
Confess the kingship of the Lord and believe in the resurrection (Romans 10:8-17)
Gospel calls us to redemption and baptism in the name of Jesus Christ (Acts 2:37-47)
What does Luke 15 communicate about God and the Gospel?
This verse utilizes the parable of the lost sheep, the lost coin, and the lost son to communicate how far He will go to save every sinner and how quick He is to extend His loving mercy and forgiveness God searches for His lost people, forgives, and restores us as a family
What does Revelation 7 communicate about the corporate outcome of the Gospel?
Revelation 7 communicates a supra-ethnic redemption outcome. Theological Questions and Exposition of Scripture:
What is “Theological Method?” And explain how one can provide theological commentary. Theological method- the way in which you apply theology (includes the one performing, the scriptures in
relation to the world, and contact with society)
God has created a world whereby He reveals Himself through creation AND scripture for us to live, move, and have our being.
b. What role does “virtue” play in one’s theological method? What role does culture and experience play in one’s theological method? Virtue is a prerequisite of method (who does one become prior to actually reading)/ qualities and habits that add to the blessed life
c. What is the Storyline of the Bible? Provide 3–4 Scriptures, as discussed in class, that would support your answer. The storyline of the scriptures trace a creation and new creation movement whereby God has created a world, people have introduced sin and death, and a story that consists of thousands of redemption stories until new creation. (Creation, the Fall, Redemption, New Creation)
-Genesis 1, Genesis 3, Romans 3 & 5
d. To the best of your ability, comment upon Genesis 1–3. Provide a summary and highlight the content in each chapter. -Genesis 1: Creation of the earth (Days 1-6)
-Genesis 2: Creation of Adam and Eve and God’s rest on the 7
th
day
-Genesis 3: The Fall of Humankind and the Consequences
e. To the best of your ability, comment upon Revelation 21–22. Provide a summary and highlight the content in each chapter. Revelation 21: John saw a new heaven and a new earth and the New Jerusalem come down from heaven. He also saw that God will dwell with and comfort His people and that the celestial city of God will be established on the earth.
Revelation 22: John speaks of the tree of life that represents vitality, abundance, and healing properties. The “healing of the nations” is a curious feature of this tree, likely indicating that
the leaves, and presumably the tree itself, will serve as a reminder of how the nations have been healed.
f. What is the proto-evangelium? Provide a definition and summary. The proto-evangelium is the first gospel presented in scripture. Discussed in Genesis 3, God declares, “And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her Seed; he shall bruise your head and you shall bruise His heel”
g. How does Jesus relate to and fulfill the covenants? Jesus fulfilled the covenants of the Old Testament through His life, death and resurrection on the cross. Through Him we are cleansed and purified of all sin and unrighteousness and preserved and secured as God’s people. Jesus sits eternally at the throne as promised in the Davidic covenant. h. What is a Covenant (provide a definition)? A covenant is a binding contract and pledges between two parties that stipulate obligations and commitments
i. If God’s kingdom is secured through covenants with humanity, (1) what are the covenants, (2) where are they located in the Scriptures, and (3) what is a 1–2 sentence summary of each covenant? In other words, (1) name each covenant, (2) provide Scripture reference for each covenant, and (3) provide a summary of the covenant. Adamic Covenant (Genesis 3:14-19) presents consequences and promises. The intention of this covenant was to establish a consequence for the actions of Adam and Eve in the fall.
Noahic Covenant (Genesis 6-9) presents God’s promise to preserve a people. This promise was symbolized by a rainbow in the sky. Abrahamic Covenant (Genesis 12,15,17) is God’s promise to secure a people and a land. The seal of this covenant was circumcision. Mosaic Covenant (Exodus 19-20) temporarily purified the people for priestly work. Priestly Covenant (Numbers 25) is God’s promise for a priest. Davidic Covenant (2 Samuel 7) is God’s promise that a king will always be on the throne. New Covenant (Jeremiah 31,34) is God’s promise to secure a people forever. j. What is the Kingdom of God (provide a definition)?
