Discussion Thread: Biblical Integration Response
Your post really helps to relate the biblical topics with a variety of topics that were covered in Werner’s text. Just as you stated that the book provides insight into developing employee’s skills, Titus 2:7 says, “In everything set them an example by doing what is good. In your teaching show integrity, seriousness (NIV)”. This verse shows the importance of teaching which relates to the managing and coaching that is covered in the Werner textbook. Coaching is one of the aspects of performance management and it is utilized to encourage effective performance within the organization (Werner, 2020). Managing and even just being an employee of an organization gives us the opportunity to share our faith and act as He wants us to. Miner & Bickerton (2020) found that many virtues and behaviors in leadership comes from Christian theories. These theories help to shape the environment in which an effective human resource department can thrive and be the most effective.
Psalm 32:8 says, “ I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go;
I will counsel you with my loving eye on you” ”(NIV, 2011). Training is a large
portion of what human resources does and entire skilled training departments have even been around since World War II (Werner, 2020). Management and the practice of training completely and accurately has been seen as an important aspect to the success of a business. Gosnell et al.
(2020) state that there is a clear cause and effect relationship of management practices on productivity when looking at skilled labor in professional settings. Just as He teaches us and looks out for us, managers should be teaching and looking out for their employees as well.
