Option #1 The Ministry of Jesus Christ The sequence of events in the Savior’s visit to the Nephites is instructive. Search 3 Nephi 11 and make an outline of the order of the Savior’s actions and teachings in this chapter. After considering your list, discuss why you think the Savior did things in this particular order. 1. God spoke to the people 2. Jesus Christ descended from the heavens 3. Stretched out his hands 4. He explained who He was 5. Explained that they should come forth and feel his side and his hands and feet where the scars were 6. Commanded Nephi to come forth 7. Gave unto Nephi power to baptize 8. Taught the people how to baptize and how to give the gift of the Holy Ghost 9. Taught the people about His gospel Why I think the Savior did these things in this particular order is because it is important to first understand who is speaking. The Savior introduced Himself in a way that the people would recognize who was speaking and would listen. Once he gained their trust, he then allowed them to come forth and feel of his scars which also allowed them to trust that this truly was the Savior. He ended with teaching and His testimony of the gospel which allowed them to learn. Why is significant to you that the Savior invited the people to come forth one by one to feel the prints in his hands and feet? o I have always loved that the Savior asked them to come forth one by one rather than having them all come at once because it shows that the Savior cares about us individually. That He loves us and cares for us and wants to make those connections with us individually on a personal level. To me it shows that He cares.
