Discussion Question Develop a 30-second to 2-minute video response to the following: Second Timothy 4:1-2 says, "I charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom: preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching" (ESV ). Why do you think preaching Scripture is important for the church? How does both the preacher and the audience grow spiritually when Scripture is the focus of preaching in the church? Min-430 Topic 1 – DQ 1 August 29, 2023 Professor and Classmates, Chapter 4 of 2 Timothy has two main points. It shows the importance of preaching the Word of God. In The second part, Paul admonishes Timothy, (2 Timothy 4:1–5), and he uses strong and commanding language knowing he will not be around. He encourages his young friend to continue the work started. He urges Timothy to defend the faith despite false teachers. Not everyone will get the essence of God’s Word the first time, so consistency, and proper use of scriptures, quoting the Word as we preach, insisting they memorize it for their edification. Faithful preaching of the scriptures will refill our faith. “Faith comes from hearing, and hearing the message about Christ” (Romans 10:17). The way preaching changes us is by hearing with faith and beholding the glory of Christ in our souls. We are “being transformed into the same image, from one degree of glory to another” (2 Corinthians 3:18). It is important for the church to hear and understand God's message? Paul insisted that Timothy “preach the word” as a pastoral leader of the church (2 Tim 4:1-2). The faithful preaching of God's Word helps us to grow and be like Christ, and will help us to grow in the knowledge of who God is, what He is like, who Christ is, what He's like; what He demands of us, and His mission of seeking the lost and making disciples for His glory. As for the importance of the audience, they provide affirmation for the content of the message and give the preacher encouragement. Public speaking is a top-ranking phobia in the world.
