1 Insight Sharing Larissa M Ferris Brigham Young University-Idaho REL 211: New Testament Brother Aaron Smith October 21, 2023
2 I chose to teach a friend about the concept of forgiveness as it's a significant theme in the scriptures, particularly in the New Testament. We spent about 20 minutes discussing this topic, and here's a summary of what I taught and what I learned from the discussion: What I Taught: I began the discussion by explaining the importance of forgiveness in our lives, drawing examples from the teachings of Jesus in the New Testament, such as the Lord's Prayer, where we are instructed to forgive others as we've been forgiven. I emphasized that forgiveness is not just a religious concept but a fundamental aspect of human relationships that can lead to healing, peace, and reconciliation. I learned that forgiveness can be a complex and emotionally charged process for individuals, and it may take time to fully forgive someone who has caused significant pain. I also realized the importance of being empathetic and understanding when discussing forgiveness, as different people have different experiences and perspectives on the topic. It reinforced the idea that teaching and learning about forgiveness isn't just about sharing principles but also about listening and supporting one another in the journey of forgiveness.
