Session 2 Paper Jessica Bowen Professor David Mau Colorado Christian University PHL-205A: World Views 06/24/2023
Session 2 Paper There can be a wide range of responses when it comes to a Christian's fundamental beliefs. You will receive different responses depending on whether you are speaking with an older generation Christian or a new age Christian. The problem, however, is not what either person believes, but rather what the Bible declares to be a Christian's underlying principles. A Christian's beliefs cannot be based on what they believe to be true, but rather on having knowledge of the reality. What is written in God's Word? The most important thing should be to remember the truth. The faith in Jesus Christ must come first and foremost. He embodies everything and all the reasons Christians hold these beliefs. According to Myers and Noebel (2015), "The Christian worldview is based squarely on the person of Jesus Christ." Christ was referenced frequently prior to His birth, but the angel Gabriel's visit to Mary bearing the wonderful news of His advent revealed the truth of who He would truly be. "You will become pregnant and give birth to a son, and you must give him the name Jesus. The Son of the Most High shall be referred to as this tremendous individual. According to the Holy Bible, New International Version, 1973/2018, Luke 1:31–33, "The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over Jacob's offspring forever; his kingdom will never end. Any Christian who is unable to
accept this reality is in reality not a Christian at all. "I would say that if you don't believe that Jesus was the Messiah, that he rose again from the dead, and that by his sacrifice our sins are forgiven, you're not really in any meaningful sense a Christian," atheist Christopher Hitchens was cited as saying in Myers and Noebel's (2015) book. This is backed up by Dr. Welbaum's (2020) assertion that "Christ is the central piece of the Christian worldview." Because we were all born sinners and are powerless to deliver ourselves from the eternal punishment we deserve, we must believe that Christ died for our sins. But the Holy Bible, New Edition states, "God proves his own love for us in this: Christ died for us while we were still sinners." ( Holy Bible New Edition International Version, 1973/2018, Romans 5:8). A person who professes to believe cannot enter paradise apart from Christ's atonement. Many people would seek for redemption in a materialistic being, such as another person, food, or drink, but they are always left empty-handed. In their essay "Once we truly grapple with how corrupt we are, it is easier to see how hopeless we are without divine intervention," Myers and Noebel (2015) elaborate on this. The car carrying our hopes and goals has experienced more than just a minor collision. It is in ruins. Before we can celebrate our aliveness in Christ, we must first wallow in our death in Adam. There will be many people in the end who claimed to believe but whose hearts and actions betrayed them. Only those who carry out the will of their heavenly Father will be admitted to the kingdom of heaven, according to what Christ says in Matthew 7: "Not everyone who calls me 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven. On that day, a lot of people will approach me and say, "Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and drive out demons in your name and perform many miracles in your name?" Then I'll tell them outright, "I didn't know you.
