1) According to Bickel and Jantz (2003), what is the main theme of the Bible? (Provide cited support from your text of this theme) According to Bickel and Jantz (2003), Jesus Christ is the main idea of the Bible. This is predicated on their reading of the Bible as a whole, in which Jesus is viewed as the main character and the key to comprehending the meaning of the text. They contend that the basic tenets of the Christian religion are constantly emphasized in the Bible—namely, Jesus, his life, teachings, death, and resurrection. In their book, Chapter 12, they make this clear when they claim, "The Bible is all about Jesus." This sums up their belief that Jesus is the primary subject of the Bible and not only a supporting character. 2) How does this theme compare to your own view or understanding of the Bible? I have always viewed God as a "teacher" when I read the Bible. In my view, God uses Christ to teach the Bible. God is not so much a subject as a main character in my opinion. I currently own an English Standard Version of the Bible, which contains both the Old and New Testaments. With those two, they share the same divine teachings. Jesus. Everything is correlated from the new to the old, including the parables, lessons, and scripture. How can understanding the big picture of the Bible help you as you seek to apply Scripture to course content? I've discovered that having a general comprehension of the Bible is beneficial for life. I now know that everyone of us is a child of God. God only wants to guide us down the correct road, despite the fact that it occasionally leads to danger. "Jesus performed sacrificial work for humanity," according to the biblical viewpoint reading (Session 3 Biblical viewpoint, 2023). This serves as another evidence that Jesus sacrificed himself to save us and that we should have confidence in him. We can work toward a successful education if we have faith. Even though education might be difficult, we will succeed if we follow God's instructions found in the Bible. References Colorado Christian University. (2023a). [Session 1 Biblical Perspective].
