Alma 8-12: Option Two Points to Ponder Remember your total response should be 150 to 300 words. Answer the following questions: Alma 8:18 records that Alma “returned speedily” to Ammonihah. In Genesis 22:3, we read that Abraham “rose up early in the morning” to take Isaac upon the mount. How might you apply these verses to yourself when you receive a prompting from God? These two verses are great examples of the way we should act when we receive a prompting and an answer from God. These prophets are quick to remember God and establish His word. These are ways that we can be obedient and willing to do all that the Father asks us to do. We are able to bless the lives of others immensely as we act swiftly and promptly on the direction and promptings that Heavenly Father gives us. Read Alma 10:6. What do you suppose Amulek meant when he said he was “called many times” but “would not hear”? I believe that Amulek means that he was prompted to act on certain things before, but that he wasn’t like Alma and didn’t act quickly. This may mean serving others, fulfilling his callings, being a missionary, ministering, faithfully serving the Lord in whatever capacity He expects. I think it takes great humility to realize that you weren’t acting as swiftly as you could have in the past. REL 121Book of Mormon
