Response:
In this week’s lesson and personal studies I got to reflect on the importance of spiritual gifts and
how our Heavenly Father gifts them to us to help serve him and others. This is mentioned in the True to the
faith section over spiritual gifts which says, “
As you receive these gifts, they will strengthen and bless you
individually and help you serve others.” I think many people can take some of their spiritual gifts for granted
without even knowing that’s why it’s important to recognize them and work on developing so that one day
when there is someone who need you and your gift you are ready to use it. In D&C verse 8 it says
“Wherefore, beware lest ye are deceived; and that ye may not be deceived seek ye earnestly the best gifts,
always remembering for what they are given.” In an age where everyone is longing for something that other
have I think it’s very important to remember this scripture. The Lord knows us individually and gifts us with
specific gift that will help us on our own personal journey back to him and so rather that longing after other
gifts we should try and be thankful for our own and using them. A great example of using your spiritual gifts
to help others is our own church leaders who practice their spiritual gifts every day and because of this help
guide us and bless us through our daily lives. In 1 Corinthians chapter 12 The Holy Ghost talks about the
spiritual gifts which are among the Saints but specifically the leaders of the church. This scripture really
helped remind me of the importance of spiritual gifts and how our leaders utilize them to help us feel closer
to our Heavenly father.

4. Synthesis:
Personal
Relevance and
Application to
the Real World
There are many serious challenges people encounter on a daily basis that are consequences
of living in a fallen world. The gospel truths taught in the Articles of Faith have tremendous
power to help people find answers, rise above problems, or simply feel God's love and
concern for them again.
Each week you will choose an issue (below) and think deeply about how the truths in that
week’s Article of Faith can offer hope to those who are experiencing the problem. If you
have another issue that particularly interests you, then choose your own:
abortion
abuse/bullying
addiction
depression
divorce
domestic violence
energy/environmental issues
violence
gambling
genocide
homosexuality
international terrorism
