"Jesus answered, "It is written: 'Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes
from the mouth of God." (
Holy Bible, New International Version
, 2011, Matthew 4:4).
What is the meaning of this passage?
To me, this scripture represents the sustaining power of God's word. I can be almost
embarrassingly vulnerable, but the more open and transparent you are about your problems, the
more others find freedom from your struggle.
I've recently been in this place where I was not getting that daily infilling of the lord, which
shows. His word is the bread of life; without it, life diminishes and loses purpose.
Why did you pick this passage?
This passage stood out in my spirit. Even now, when I think about it, the Holy Spirit reveals
hidden mysteries. Recently, I discovered that I was sensitive to caffeine levels because of high
cortisone levels.
But learning this was almost an answered prayer, and I also learned to love and take care of
myself that much more. Besides the "church" being about religion, it is most definitely about a
relationship. It is about Jesus walking with you and caring about your most intimate parts.
How does it apply to your daily life?
I need Him in my everyday life to find that sense of life and purpose we all carve. This scripture
reminded me of that importance.
