Church Reflection from a Different Christian Tradition
When atending Granger Community Church online service for the first time my initial
thoughts were that there were a lot more people that atended this church verses my own and
that this church was more established financially and had beter resources. The quality of the
instruments, quantity of musicians, the light fixtures, as well as the depth of the video were on
a different financial level then the church I’m used to atending.
As I think about the order of service and how it contributed to my experience with God, I
would say that there were parts that helped and hindered me. I was first completely drawn in
with the worship. There was a musical impressions Disney love songs generator game and video
of someone interviewing kids about love that followed the worship part of service and I felt like
that hindered my experience with God. I want to say the video and the game were great, but it
didn’t line up with my initial thoughts and expectations of a typical Sunday morning church
service that I am used to on a regular bassist. I felt like they would fit in more in a typical
Wednesday study group rather than at church on Sunday, so it left me confused and trying to
understand the connection within the sermon. After the game and video followed the sermon
which made me feel like it was a drastic change in the dynamic and I found myself waiting for
them to bring it back up to make the connection, but they never did which left me even more
confused.
I really liked the worship part of the service. Even though it is different from my own
church’s worship I still found enjoyment in their song choices and the experience. The
experience reminded me of when we take our Youth for Christ kids to camp. The sons and as
well as the whole experience was just like how worship usually goes in Club at camp, and I
found that enjoyable. The only other thing I would say about it was that the bright flashing
lights were a litle distracting at times it kind of reminded me of a worship concert.
In the message they talked about the roots of separation when it comes to a relationship
also about some of the core vulnerabilities women and men have and how we can learn them
to help us grow in our relationships we have today. One of the vulnerabilities that they talked
about reminded of when we talked about in class wanting to be in the know and control. It
reminded me of when I talked about in our discussion that as Christians, we must relinquish our
seeking for control and allow God to lead us because He is the only one that is all knowing. I
also want to point out that in the message I found that I was experiencing a disconnect because
I didn’t understand why they separated the vulnerabilities for women verses men when they
applied to both and could be considered core vulnerabilities for both genders.
I would say the main similarity of this church compared to the one I usually atend is the
main flow of the service how it went to worship, greeting one another, the message, back to
worship, and then the end of service. The main difference between the two I would say would
