Discussion Replies The Gospel Forms and Informs Leaders: CLED 300 I enjoyed reading and interacting with your thought-provoking post. I get excited when reading the scriptures and receive new revelations on scriptures that I have previously read. Since becoming a leader in my church and a student I study the Word of God more attentively and intentionally than I have before. I agree with your statement that, “the gospel begins and ends with the person of Jesus...” I believe that the truth revealed to us through God's word, the person, and the work of Jesus Christ has the power and authority to form and inform leaders. Goldsworthy states, “In Jesus, we have the absolute truth of God. Everything revealed to us in Jesus is the truth, and he is our ultimate source of truth” 1 Your statement regarding respect and the transformative work of Christ that forms and informs leaders grabbed my attention “…. and each leader must respect him as the leader that oversees it all…They must respect his authority, giving space for the transformative work of Jesus to form and inform their leadership.” Christ was an example of a great authoritative, transformational, informative disciple-making teacher and leader, taking advantage of every opportunity to teach, train, inspire, uplift, heal, and proclaim the gospel. Matthew records, “Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness among the people” (Matthew 4:23 New International Version). Mohler affirms, “Every great leader is a great teacher, and the greatest leaders seize every opportunity to teach well.” 2 I believe that leaders can become adequately, sufficiently, and effectively formed and informed through the word of God and the person and work of Christ, Thank you for your great thought-provoking post! 1 Graeme Goldsworthy, According to Plan: The Unfolding Revelation of God in the Bible (IVP, 1991), 61. 2 Albert Mohler, The Conviction to Lead: 25 Principles for Leadership That Matters (Minneapolis, MN: Bethany House Publishers, 2012), 68.
