Name of your outdoor ministry
and why you chose this name. Please include a
spiritual component to both the name of your ministry and, more importantly, “why” you
have a passion for this type of ministry. Please include at least TWO scriptures. (One
Page) - (20 pts.)
I have chosen Briar Ridge Children’s Ministries because I work with the preschool and children’s
ministries at the church that I go to. As I was searching trying to find an outdoor ministry to do
the assignment on, I wanted to find something that related to the role of ministry that I work for
and serve in and also relates to my background with ministry. Scripture that relates to this
ministry is Matthew 19:14 “ Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder
them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these”. It’s encouraging children to praise
and worship God. “From the lips of children and infants you, Lord, have called forth your
praise” Matthew 21:16. The outdoor ministry that I chose is called Briar Ridge Children’s
Ministries which is a Christian based organization that provides children outdoor adventures
through hunting, camping, and fishing. The focus within this camp is to provide spiritual
influence offered through outdoor activities challenging kids to trust God and see his presence in
nature. The outdoor ministry that I chose is a spiritual related camp and this camp can help kids
become closer to God through hearing the gospel and understanding the purpose of becoming a
believer and knowing God. The spiritual aspect of this outdoor ministry is trying to get young
kids to learn the gospel and eventually become saved by not only having fun at camp but also
learning the gospel from their leaders. The mentors of the camp can help the kids build
confidence, live with a purpose and find salvation. The spirituality within this Briar Ridge
Children’s Ministry which is an outdoor ministry where campers can enjoy and explore the
nature that we are surrounded by everyday even when we are not at camp. This camp involves
spirituality and without a spiritual component associated within this outdoor ministry then the
campers might not learn or take away anything from spending their time at this camp. However,
there are kids who might spend a week at camp and not even hear anything about God and the
gospel which can be hard for childrens to become believers and learn what the gospel truly is.
Whether I am at a camp or spending time with the Lord or reading my Bible on my back porch in
the mornings or in the evenings can help me to rewind and be able to focus on God and
especially whatever I am reading in the Bible. I have a passion for this type of outdoor ministry
because I work with the preschool and children’s ministry and part of my job is to teach the
children stories about the Bible and help them learn about the gospel. I feel like God has called
me to serve and work with the kids ministry at my church and at camps where kids can have the
opportunity to learn and hear about God.
I have never been anywhere far away from home without being with my family other than doing
College For A Weekend. I have also never been camping before and I feel like it would be very
fun to have the opportunity to be able to share the gospel with kids through camping. I hope to be
able to have the opportunity to work at a camp and also teach and share the gospel with kids. I
would say that if I had the opportunity to spend time outdoors away from technology it would
probably help me with spending more time with the Lord and reading my Bible surrounded by
God's creation. If I had the opportunity to work at a camp I feel like it would probably change
my life and also change the kids lives that come to camp when they hear the gospel. Having the
opportunity to be outdoors surrounded by God’s creation whether it is at a camp or just sitting
somewhere outdoors can help us feel like we are close to God.

Mission Statement
– the Who, What, and How you will do ministry. (Half a page) - (20pts.)
Briar Ridge Children’s Ministries’ mission statement is to introduce young children/kids to
Christ through his wonderful creation. The ministry's plan is to reach this goal to use hunting,
camping, and outdoor adventures to show the children God’s love through his provision in
creation. Bringing Christ into the hearts of young men and women through appreciation of what
he set forth at the beginning of time. If I worked for Briar Ridge Children Ministries I would
teach the young children and make sure that they not only have fun at camp but also learn about
God and hear the gospel as that is part of the mission and goal of this outdoor ministry. If I
worked at an outdoor ministry or camp like Briar Ridge Children’s Ministries I work within their
mission to make sure that by the time the children leave camp they have heard the gospel
through exploring God’s creation. The mentors and leaders who are working with the kids at
camp all week have a role of not only making sure that the kids are safe but also learn about who
God is and even learn about the gospel within the provision of God’s creation and his love for the
children. If I was a part of the Briar Ridge Children’s Ministry I would work with the mentors
and campers through fellowship and prayer. As a camp worker I would
